I'll See You in My Dreams El 29 de noviembre de 2001, exactamente un año después del fallecimiento de George Harrison, su mujer Olivia Trinidad Arias y su hijo Dhani Harrison organizaron un concierto en el Royal Albert Hall a modo de homenaje, contando con la ayuda de Eric Clapton como director musical. Todo lo recaudado fue (y sigue siendo) destinado a la fundación Living in the Material World, fundada por Harrison en 1973. El concierto contó con la presencia de amigos, compañeros y colaboradores de George a lo largo de su carrera musical. Además de la asistencia de Paul McCartney y Ringo Starr, se contó con la presencia de Tom Petty (acompañado por su banda, The Heartbreackers) y Jeff Lynne, ambos compañeros en Traveling Wilburys (este último, también productor de algunos de sus álbumes como solista, de los "Anthology" -1994-95- con The Beatles, y gran amigo), Ravi Shankar (entre otras cosas, su profesor de sitar) y su hija, Anoushka Shankar, algunos miembros de Monty Python (Michael Palin, Eric Idle, Terry Jones y Terry Gilliam), Billy Preston, Joe Brown y su hija, Sam Brown, Jools Holland, Albert Lee, Ray Cooper, Gary Brooker, Marc Mann, entre otros. Comenzando con una sección de música hindú, de la mano de Ravi y Anoushka Shankar, interrumpida por The Inner Light y finalizada con Arpan (escrita por Ravi especialmente para esta ceremonia y dirigida por su hija), contando con una gran orquestación, y continuando por un recorrido de sus canciones a lo largo de The Beatles y sus discos solistas, el Concert For George emocionó al público asistente, a los intérpretes, y a todos los que tuvieron la oportunidad de verlo. El 17 de noviembre de 2003, el concierto fue editado en un DVD (dirigido por David Leland) en forma simultánea con un disco, en el cual el interludio de Monty Python y el tema Horse To The Water, maravillosamente interpretado por Sam Brown, no fueron incluidos. |
